Protecting Message Data at Rest: Why Do It, the Options and Challenges

Speaker:
Rob Parker

Abstract:

Moving data reliably, securely and at scale is a difficult problem, but that is only part of the story. Getting your data to arrive at its destination ready for onward processing is one challenge, getting it to arrive at the destination securely adds another layer of complexity. Messaging is end-to-end and so is security: it’s critical to protect data across delivery boundaries and when at rest. Regardless of your role, it is your responsibility to ensure that happens. What options there are for protecting message data from being maliciously edited or read by the wrong person?, what technologies can be used to protect message data? and what are the challenges in employing these mechanisms. In this session, Rob Parker, Security Architect for IBM MQ ,will provide an holistic review of the challenges we face in end-to-end secure message exchange.

Key Takeaways:

  • Why protecting message data is critical.
  • What options there are for protecting message data.
  • Basic implementations to achieve these.
  • The challenges with implementing these protections.

Target Audience:

  • Application developers, messaging network administrators, those who love security
